"Enough is Enough".
Who could have benefitted from the attack on Mumbai? Was Pakistan responsible? Why were Americans and Britishers, along with the Jew family being singled out? Too many questions...
In my opinion, this whole thing looks like the work of a Taliban-Al Qaeda combine. Why? The reasons are pretty obvious. On the one side Taliban and their cohorts are being 'smoked out' of their hiding places in the NWFP region of Pakistan by the American forces. While the Pakistani Army is at them from the other end. The only way to get some pressure off would be to see that the Pakistani forces got diverted to other places.. an audacious attack on India's financial capital ensured just that. The line thought would be that India would react in a manner similar to the one it did when the Parliament was attacked in 2001, which led to the (wasteful?) Operation Parakram. This would require Pakistan to respond in the same vein and put up all their troops on their Western border and this would give the Taliban the much needed breather.
This is just an opinion. We will never know the complete truth. Or maybe we will. But when, no one knows. What this whole episode has triggered is a strong international opinion against Pakistan. Even if the Pakistani establishment doesnt have a direct hand in the Mumbai terror attack, it sure has the responsibility of ensuring that its citizens who were involved in the cold-blooded murder of Indian and foreign nationals, be brought to book. Pakistan has to stand up and take responsibility for the manner in which its territory is being used to launch attacks on other nations. It has the responsibility of proving that it is a responsible state in the comity of nations. Else, it runs the serious risk of being labeled a terrorist state.
